Introduction: The Hydro Power Generation client in West Coast owns and operates the nation’s largest investor-owned hydroelectric system providing clean energy for millions of customers. As a part of capital program to maintain the safe and reliable operations of their facilities, they make significant investment to maintain and upgrade various hydro power generation assets including dams, spillways, powerhouses, and water conveyance system.

Problem/Challenge: The client was seeking robust project controls implementation and rigorous cost and schedule management support to manage the execution of highly complex and challenging dam, spillway, and water conveyance projects to complete the project on time and within budget.

Approach/Solutions: Clarisight Consulting team adopted rigorous project controls framework by adopting four step models (plan, monitor, analyze, and report) leading and managing all aspects of project controls to successfully meeting project objectives.

Results: Clarisight project controls framework included creating a project baseline estimate and baseline schedule, managing project financials, developing earned value metrics, executive level reporting, vendor management, budget management, funding authorization, track commitments, and change orders managements. We also helped develop project risk register which was tied the project forecast providing project team accurate visibility into total project and help manage risk contingencies.
